1. Winning the 1983 World Cup

This picture must be the oldest memory of cricket for many Indian fans. Moreover, this is one of the greatest moment in Indian Cricket, where India had beaten the West Indies, who were the world champions for the first two world cups.

Indian team being the underdog, had nothing to lose and had every reason to go all out for the win after wrapped up for 183 Runs. And thats what they did to make one of the best comebacks ever in cricket history. They All-Out the Mighty West Indian team for 140 runs in the chase.

Earlier, the Indian press was not given passes to the final match as Indians were not expected to be there in the finals. Indians upsetting English in the semifinals was a nightmare for them to put the board in mourning.

The London Times predicted 50:1 odds that India will lose the finals.

But the then captain Kapil Dev made sure India is not leaving with their face down. His shrewd captaincy and India’s sharp fielding had won the game for India.

Defending 183 against the mighty Caribbean lineup was not even near to possible at those times, but when Amarnath picked up the final wicket of Holding, India turned the world upside down.
